GROUP COURSES

Does Red House offer group bass, drums or keyboard instruction?

To date, group courses have been focused on guitar, as it has been our most popular instrument. We will continue to evaluate adding new courses, including programs for other instruments, if there is client demand. We're also happy to schedule custom classes for groups of 5 or more.

Which is better: private lessons or group courses?

Both private and group instruction have unique advantages, and choosing between them ultimately comes down to personal preference. Group programs typically provide more playing time and a fun social environment at a very affordable cost, but are less customized to your particular interests or schedule. Private lessons can be entirely customized, but are typically more expensive and shorter in duration.

How do I know which skill level I'm at and/or which course is appropriate for me?

Red House's front desk staff is typically able to recommend an appropriate course after asking just a few questions. Red House also offers free 15 minute placement consultations with our instructors to ensure a great fit. Please contact us at 925.938.6900 if you need some advice.

What time do courses usually take place?

Most courses are scheduled in the weekday evening hours to accommodate school and work hours. Red House also offers a complete line-up of summer camps for school-age students. Visit www.redhouselive.com/courses for exact course times.

How do I enroll in a course?

You can enroll online at www.redhouselive.com/courses, via phone by calling 925.938.6900, or in person at Red House's front desk. Red House requires your name, address, email, phone and date of birth to enroll, as well as complete payment for the course. Red House accepts cash, personal check, VISA and Mastercard as forms of payment.

What is Red House's cancellation policy for courses?

Red House courses are fully refundable up until two weeks prior to the beginning of the course. From that time through the completion of the second class, course fees are refundable for studio credit. In the event that a course is not the right fit for the student, Red House is typically able to offer an alternative course suggestion, or apply the student's fees toward private lessons. After the second class of the course, all course fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

Can I make-up a missed class?

Since Red House typically only runs one section of a course during each season, we cannot generally offer make-ups for a specific group session. However, Red House offers private lessons with the course instructor at a discounted rate of $25/half-hour for students in need of a make-up (note: the instructor's availability is not guaranteed). In many cases, the instructor can also provide the student with study materials in advance of the missed class.

Do I need to bring equipment to the course?

Students should provide their own guitars and accessories (picks, strings, etc…). Red House provides complete equipment for our 'Explore Rock & Roll' youth program, and provides amps and drum kits for our other ensemble programs.

What kind of guitar should you bring to a course?

Red House's beginner courses are designed for either acoustic or electric guitar. Advanced beginner and intermediate courses are typically optimized for one or the other.

Flex - Schedule up to 10 days in advance with no weekly commitment. Great for those with unpredictable schedules.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Lessons cancelled after 6pm the night before the lesson will be charged as a completed lesson.

Can lessons be transferred to other instructors and instruments?

The great part about Red House lesson vouchers is that they can be used for any instructor and for any instrument. If you find that an instructor or a particular discipline are not a good fit for you. Simply cancel all future lessons with that instructor and we'll work with you to find another instructor that will work more effectively with you.

What are Red House's payment policies for lessons?

All lessons taken at Red House must be prepaid. If you purchase a 4-Lesson pack, you will be given 4 lesson “vouchers” that can be used in the future with any instructor on any instrument.

Do Prepaid lessons expire?

Lessons expire after 6 months, and new lessons must be purchased.

What Payment methods does Red House accept for private lessons?

Red House accepts cash, credit card (Visa or Mastercard), and personal checks. Red House does not accept Discover or American Express. Lessons can be repurchased in person, over the phone, or via the internet.

Can unused lessons from a lesson pack be refunded?

Red House offers refunds on the unused portion of lesson packages within 60 days of the date of purchase. Refunds on the unused portion of a lesson package are subject to a $15 service charge. Unused lessons may also be transferred to another student, such as a family member, at no-charge.

Is there any way I can check my lesson schedule and lesson voucher balance online?

All Account Balances and Schedule Information are available at http://schedule.redhouselive.com. Please contact a Red House Staff Member for more information on how to access your account information.

Can I reschedule or cancel my appointment via email?

All lesson cancellations or rescheduling requests should be emailed to reservations@redhouselive.com. All schedule changes will be confirmed via email.

Can I cancel or reschedule my appointment directly through my instructor?

Because all scheduling is handled by our operations crew, scheduling or cancellation requests communicated directly to the instructor, and not confirmed via email, are not considered binding. To avoid miscommunication, please email us at reservations@redhouselive.com, contact us via phone, or stop by the front desk.

Fixed Lessons

What are the benefits and features of fixed lessons?

Fixed lessons offer a fixed slot with a specific time and day of the week. This appointment time cannot be booked by another client as long as you continue to purchase and attend lessons for the given time.

Can I cancel a fixed lesson?

Individual appointments under the fixed plan cannot be canceled and refunded, but make-up appointments may be scheduled if the student notifies Red House of a scheduling conflict before 6 p.m. the night prior to the original appointment.

Are there any limitations to make-up scheduling?

Make-Up lessons may be used within 30 days of the original appointment date. While Red House will make every effort to accommodate your schedule, make-ups are subject to the instructor’s availability and are not guaranteed.

What happens to my appointment when an instructor cannot attend the lesson?

If the Red House instructor is unable to conduct a lesson at the scheduled time, Red House will either a) retain a qualified substitute instructor or b) reschedule the student to a different time. Students are not obligated to accept alternate times, and will not be charged if Red House is unable to deliver the lesson at the original time slot.

Can I cancel my fixed lesson plan?

Students may withdraw from the fixed time slot by notifying Red House at least one week prior to their next appointment. Any unused lessons will remain available to the student, however the student will not be assured of the same time slot in the future.

How are fixed lessons billed?

In order to maintain their fixed lesson slot, students on the 'Fixed Plan' will be automatically billed for their next package of four lessons via credit card charge or ACH debit upon depletion of the prior package. Students who do not desire the auto-bill set-up must purchase a new package prior to the usage of their fourth lesson on the prior package.

Are there any reasons I should choose the "Flex" lesson plan over the "Fixed" Lesson plan?

If a student's schedule is sporadic and you expect frequent cancellations, the “Flex” plan will most likely work more effectively for you as compared to the "Fixed" Plan.

Flex Lessons

What are Flex Lessons?

Flex Lessons are lessons that can be scheduled for any time and any day scheduled up to 10 days in advance. These lessons give the student the flexibility to fit lessons into a busy and changing schedule. However, the same spot cannot be guaranteed week after week as lessons more than 10 days in advance are reserved for fixed students only.

Can "Flex" Lessons be canceled?

Flex lessons can be canceled any time before 6 p.m. the night prior to a lesson, and no lesson will be charged to the account. However, any lesson canceled after 6 p.m. will be counted as a completed lesson and will be charged to the students account.
