|As a professional Saxophonist for 30 years, Armen Boyd has become known in the bay area scene with extensive experience in Rock, Jazz, Funk, Latin and Soul music. He has enjoyed many challenges and rewards from this experience, including, playing with some of the most talented musicians working in the Bay Area: The list is longer than the space available here.
Armen studied Music under: Frank Sumares, Bennett Friedman, Jim Grantham, Hal Stein, Art Dourghty and John Maltester. This has fostered his growth as a player and made him a more capable performer.
He has been teaching Saxophone Technique and Improvisation privately for 25 years. He also has teaching experience at Diablo Valley College (Directed Big Band , Jazz Improv), San Ramon Valley High School and College Park High School (Jazz Combo) before coming to the Red House in 2011.
Armen’s credits include performances for hundreds of Fortune 500 companies at major venues in the U.S. and International locations. Additionally, here is a list of famous persons Armen actually performed with on stage up at least once: John Patitucci, Doc Kupka, Terry Haggerty, Tom Scott, Martha Reeves, Steve Miller, Taj Mahal, Ronnie Spector, Eddie Money, Lydia Pense, Ross Valerie, Howard Tate, Steve Kimock, Mic Gillette, Jeff Tamelier, Bonnie Raitt, The Doobie Bros, Stan Kenton, Ed Shannesey, Bob Smales, Joe Henderson, The Coasters, The Drifters, Little Anthony and the Imperials.
When he has have time off Armen can be found cycling, camping, skiing, hiking with his Labrador, sailing the bay and traveling around the globe.
